Now I will proceed tell you why this is not necessarily a bad thing.

Plot:★★☆☆☆

This show really has no plot, and it really doesn’t need one, but if you really want to know I suppose I can copy and paste from Wikipedia.

Takatoshi Tsuda joins Ōsai Academy, a co-ed high school that until recently had been an all-girl school, where he is asked to join the student council as vice-president and a male representative.

Animation: ★★★★★

The animation in this show is beautiful! Some, if not the best I have ever seen. Find this show in HD like I did at all costs. I was fortunate enough to watch the series on YouTube recently in 720p but the user got his channel taken away due to copyright infringement so I can’t leave a link, sorry.

Characters:

Now with each review I always try something different. Sometimes I’ll leave a subject out, sometimes I’ll add in extra stuff in an attempt to figure out the best way for me to write these. This time instead of rating the characters in general I’m going to rate each main character individually, based on how much I liked that character.

Takatoshi Tsuda: ★★★☆☆

Sorry everyone but we couldn’t get Kyon to do the part in the anime, so we looked far and wide and we were able to find his clone! The main character is really just personalty-less. He gets stuck going to a formally all girls high school because it’s close to his house, then he gets stuck in the student council where everyone around him thinks he’s a perverted pig, and he does the same thing I would do. He ignores them and try’s to get through it. You really do end up feeling sorry for him, but at the same time he’s just so boring. He’s one of those characters that is Mr. Goody Two-Shoes and as a result he just ends up seeming really bland. The only reason he is there is to spur the girls on to make jokes.

Shino Amakusa: ★★★★★

Shino is the student council president a second year student, always has sex on the mind, and I have to say she is my favorite character in the show. She has this mindset throughout the show that all men are pigs who constantly have sex on the brain, which is ironic because usually that’s her instead. I also love her chibi form. I don’t know why but I laugh every time she’s drawn that way. Also there is a small bit of romance between her and Tsuda at the end, but that never goes anywhere.

Aria Shichijou: ★★☆☆☆

Aria will be performing as our Mikuru Asahina for the evening, OW! Why’d you hit me?? What do you mean I can’t use two Haruhi jokes in one review?? Aria, like Mikuru is basically there to provide fanservice. If there was an episode where she was turned into a copy of Shino the two would be impossible to tell apart physically or personality wise. The only difference is that Shino’s jokes are funnier, while Aria’s are just kind of awkward. They get around this at the beginning of the series by saying she likes heavy jokes and apparently I do not. That being said she isn’t a horrible character, but she’s really just a clone of Shino with boobs.

Suzu Hagimura: ★★★★☆

She’s short. Ok next up is music….. what do you mean I have to explain it more? Ugg fine. Suzu is the council’s accountant, she is a genius and is very short in nature, which leads to people mistaking her for a kid. This usually ends up causing her to go into a blind fit of rage, and start yelling about how amazing she is. And other than being the only girl in the council that has modesty she’s pretty 2 dimensional. However she did cause the funniest scene in the anime.

Music: ★★★☆☆

Throughout the anime I almost never noticed the music, which can be considered a good thing in the sense that It wasn’t so out-of-place it made my ears bleed (see review of Claymore), but it also means that it wasn’t the kind of music that made me want to buy the soundtrack. Though I do like the Op, can someone tell me if I have the right Ed? I watched the series on YouTube and The Op and Ed were cut off, so I had to end up searching for them, and the Ed I found seems completely irrelevant to the show. If I found the wrong Ed ok, tell me in the comments and I’ll fix this but if it’s the correct one then it almost seems like the Ed to another anime entirely. I’m not talking about the animation style, it’s just whats going on is confusing within the confides of the show.

Final: ★★★★☆

The show has no plot of any description, no action, no character development, but it doesn’t need to. The anime knows what it’s trying to be, a slice of life comedy with innuendos out the wazoo that genuinely makes you laugh every minute or so, and it succeeds at being that. It also has incredible artwork and likable enough characters. Because of that I can honestly say go watch it, and it’s a really fun time to be had.
