
Do you know basic computer/anime “slang”? Well this page will help those of you to out of the times *cough* [my Father] *cough* to understand some of the terms every Otaku needs to know. I will be adding more to it as time passes it is not yet complete, thus “Under Construction”.
Anime- Japanese animation
BGM- ( Background Music) Music featured in an anime soundtrack and played during the actual anime itself.
Blood Geysers When an anime characters body gets harmed in someway resulting in a spurt or explosion of blood that produces more blood than what I’m convinced the human body can retain
Chibi- Small. A smaller more cartoon-y version of an anime character. usually used to enhance physical comedy as shown in the video below of Sora no Otoshimono ( My favorite anime) when Ikaros falls to the ground the first time its funny but not as funny as the second time because its more humorous to see a cartoon-ish looking character get hurt than one resembling a human.
Ecchi- Anime with a little too much fan service – essentially shading into soft porn. Technically “ecchi” means “perverted”, but is usually milder than “hentai” material.
Ed- Ending, the ending theme to an anime or music for the credits
Harem- A love triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, etc… which involves one male and or female being loved my multiple of the opposite sex.
Hentai- Its direct translation means “pervert” and refers to any scene or movie that explicitly presents nudity or sexual acts. Can also be used to describe a person who is strange or out of the ordinary
Lolicon- A slang term shared between Japanese and Western culture, for the preference for child-like depictions of women, Pedophile
Mahou Shojo- A Magical Girl similar to a witch , although the majority could be defined as strippers with magical powers (example below)
Mahou Shounen- A Magical Boy
Manga- Japanese comic books
Moe- Cute
Op- Opening, the opening theme or theme song to an anime
Otaku- is a term is a Japanese term used to refer to people with obsessive interests, particularly to anime, manga, or video games
RL- Real life
Saint Protagonist A male protagonist who is perfect, in every way and has no sexual desires to speak of. He also has no personality at all. Usually lives in harem comedy’s.
Shimapan Striped underwear.
Tsundere- is a Japanese character development process that describes a person who is initially cold and even hostile towards another person before gradually showing their warm side over time.
Yaoi- A narrative or visual work featuring a romance or sexual relationship between two or more males, primarily intended for a female audience
Yuri- A narrative or visual work featuring a romance or sexual relationship between two or more females, primarily intended for a male audience
